Well, it seems I'll be developing a software project connected to the maintenance industry so I'm evaluating the TabletPC and the SmartPhone platform. Do you know which would be better suited to go in the field and used to get forms from the net, allow filling it up, include a ink signature on it and send it up to a server? If so please let me know!
I just saw a beautiful documentary made by the BBC called " Monsters we met ". It's a beautiful display of our evolution to become our planets most dangerous predator and how we systematically disrupted our planet's delicate ecosystem.

I love my woman.
I don't know if anyone is finding this behavior annoying but more and mores sites feature this weird thing when you press Alt+F that takes you to a search box instead popping up the file menu. Really lame, what do you guys think?
If someone is going to this year's PDC'05 and you are interested in Monad (MSH) you will probably find them in the Ask-The-Experts section. Too bad I can't come :(
I found this page, Managing 3rd party jars in Eclipse . I was used to add libraries on project basis and for web projects I'd smack them physically to the WEB-INF/lib directory and the nice thing this seems to work even for web apps (haven't tested yet).
Digging a bit on the net today, I found this nice keynote by Jobs that presented the Macintosh to the world. I must admit he's a genius about nailing these demos and he's just gotten better and better with time.
In an attempt to earn some money I started using the CafePress service through which I can publish my ideas on various media like T-Shirts, mug's, mouse pad's etc. So if you like to wear something original please visit my store . I hope to put some unique works, let's hope you like it. Please comment on the quality as I just started using this service.
This is the last blog entry for today, I've been overwhelmed by info so before going to bed I'll try to do some mental cleanup. I like Windows, I develop a lot on that platform and I like the roadmap that MS is putting ahead for Longhorn (except I'm of the opinion that it should be based on all three pillars Indigo, Avalon AND WinFS; putting WinFS out and backporting Avalon and Indigo to Win XP, which is great, makes no sense and such a product would not live to the hype and goodness it's expected to bring). I also like Linux, it's Unix for the masses and it's proven that the Bazzaar can produce things that the Cathedral didn't/doesn't (I put here MS and Unix's too). I also like my Gentoo which is a hybrid between FreeBSD's ports and Linux. I haven't tried FreeBSD but I expect it to be very good (here I realize I'm getting old). I'd really like to try MacOSX but that will not happen as I don't like locked in platforms. On the othe
Yup, it's been an interesting day! It seems that Apple's Senior Vice President Phil Schiller said that Apple will not allow running MacOSX on anything other than an Apple Mac (second page, last sentence). Noooooooooo! I hope they will think this over. I might just buy a copy if they make one available. If I was president of Apple I'd probably attack MS in the OS market. We'd have a solid foundation, there is already a great deal of FreeBSD and Linux code for the various chipsets and extra hardware and MS will require a lot more time to ship a new OS so that creates an opportunity that Apple will either grab now or it will probably not happen again (and will probably be won by Linux). Remember there's a lot of hardware that'll become legacy in the next couple of years! PS. Did I mention that my first computer was a Apple IIe plus with 2 floppies a thermal printer and a graphic tablet? My dad tells me it had a cost of around 10.000 DM at the time (1980's). PP
The mozilla foundation is releasing the alpha release that will preview some really cool features like support for some draft CSS3 specs like columns (yea!) and SVG ( and many more ). I also expect to have a usable MathML support as I really would love to be able to write formulas in markup (using a good editor of course, if it supports handwriting even better; TabletPC dev's wake up ;).
After I wrote the last post I read this nice intro on the Cell architecture and this event that will happen during the LinuxTag 2k5 (Europe's largest Linux fair) where they propose a model of how to hook up to the power that lies in this mighty die. I wish I was there for sure but I bet we'll have community review as soon as possible.
It's tru e ! ;) Apple is planning it's third grand transition (after the switch from the 68k to PowerPC and from OS9 to OSX). They plan to switch from the PowerPC to the Int e l architecture in a period of two years. We should start seeing Intel-based Mac's as early as next year. I personally am a bit sad, I liked the PowerPC architecture and I hope IBM will pump some life to the PPC roadmap thus make Apple at least consider supporting multiple architectures. Hell, why not see OSX on the Cell processor? They have compilers that can compile to the both platforms and even make one binary that contains code for both platforms (they call them Universal binaries). But aren't there more that just two platforms? There is the PowerPC,the x86 (with MMX but no SSE, with SSE but no SSE2), the x86-64 (AMD wasn't even mentioned) and god knows what else you can pump into this list with time so you can quickly get a complex matrix you'll have hard work to keep small. Apple has
Does anyone like paintball and is going to Croatia this summer? If so my cousin has a paintball club in Pula so you might like to check it out. I'll be blogging about that soon, maybe even drop some photo.

Well, if they don't change their minds, Apple is doing it again. They're ditching their chip architecture for the second time. First they went from the Motorola to the PowerPC, and now they seem to have decided to switch :) to the x86 arch. One thing is certain, they will have platforms much more mature and less locked in (bigger competition), but if they are smart about it and avoid dirty tricks people might decide to install OSX on their ordinary PCs. That means opening a potential new market with millions of users (and thousands of untested drivers by Apple but tested by the BSD and Linux guys). Will Apple be able to scale? Will they let go of their legendary closedness? Will the x86 deliver superior value? What about 64bit? Only time will tell. Of course OSX is still far from perfect, did you read the anandtech review where it demonstrated it's performance hit on threading compared to other systems? You remember the scene with Bill Gates and Steve Jobs in the end of the
I wasn't aware of this google service, it's called google answers , you ask a question and for a certain sum you can get an answer from a real person. Wow, what if I ask the question "What is the meaning of life", will I get 42?
This page gives an interesting view on categorization of the web and its searchability. I think it's also known as the semantic web .
